Dear family and friends, December 8, 2005
A prayer request answered. . .the visas for Dena and the children are
in our possession! We received a phone call in October that the visas were ready to be picked up in Chicago. The Lord allowed us to find cheap plane tickets enabling us to return to the United States for a quick three-week visit. During that time we were able to attend the annual Fall Fellowship meeting of the World Baptist Fellowship, visit family in Michigan, purchase some items needed for the work in Spain and yes, we picked up our visas! I was able to preach for my father at our home church, Temple Baptist, while he underwent cancer treatments. We thank the Lord for all those who helped us to accomplish much in that short time and prepare to return to Spain the first weekend in November. By the way, we have finally been able to get internet service in our home in Spain, and can be reached by email at bill@rosestospain.org.
For Thanksgiving, our family spent 3 days with the Washburn family, missionaries in La Carlota, about 4 hours from where we live. There we saw another new church in the making. It was exciting to be involved in a youth activity and see 9 Spanish youth, mostly unsaved, open the Bible and respond positively. While there, Dena and I also made rehearsal tapes for the new choir at the African church in Roquetas. This month we have activities, choir practice, children’s program practice and the Christmas banquet for the Spanish church in our home since the church building is still unfinished. The construction is coming along and we now have both electricity and water, however there remains much work to be done. We praise God for His protection that Bill was unhurt after falling through the roof while working on the building.
We have had another interesting opportunity to share Christ this week. Natalie, from England, visited our church with hopes of improving her Spanish. She has no Bible background at all. Bill was able to share the Gospel with her and she was given both an English and Spanish Bible to study. She will be in Almeria for the next month. We pray that she will receive Christ as Savior during her stay. Please pray with us for Natalie. Other prayer requests include:
*Completion of the construction on the building in Almeria & the inauguration service
* Process of application for Dena and the children to receive residential identification cards
*Purchase of a family vehicle, hopefully in January
*Continued progress in organizing the Roquetas (African) church
*My father, Mike Rose, who continues to take cancer treatments
*Our understanding of the Spanish language, culture & relationships with our neighbors
Man’s earthly wisdom that first Christmas would have done everything differently. Who would have chosen to have Jesus born in a palace? Man. Who would have had Mary great with child traveling far away from her family? Not man. It is these thoughts that help us to realize that cold nights in the house, being away from family and having some inconveniences are not a burden, but a great opportunity to be like Joseph and Mary that first Christmas; an opportunity to share Jesus with the world. Thank you for your part in our ministry here in Spain through your prayers, support, and letters. For those who support us financially, we will be sending a statement summarizing our receipts this year during the first part of January.
Merry Christmas from the Rose family,
Bill & Dena Rose with Brianna, Kelsey, Jordan, Joshua, and Josiah
